Baptism Baptism In preparation for the Sacrament of Baptism for children, parents schedule an appointment with either the Pastor or the Deacon, to discuss their commitment to raising the child faithfully in the Catholic Church. Following the initial meeting, parents then schedule a meeting with the Pastor or Deacon, the godparents and themselves to come to a deeper understanding of the initiation rite of Baptism as well to schedule the date for the Baptism and accept the letters of eligibility from the godparents. Click here to download the sponsor eligibility form. Baptismal Schedule Baptisms may be planned for any Sunday afternoon at 12:30PM except during Lent. Another option is for Baptism to be celebrated during any 11:00 AM Sunday Mass. Penance Baptized children of the parish are usually in second grade when they celebrate the Rite of Reconciliation also know as Penance or Confession for the first time. Penance Schedule The Rite of Reconciliation is celebrated every Saturday from 4:00 to 4:45 p.m., all Sundays from 8:15 to 8:40 a.m. and any time by appointment. Holy Eucharist Baptized children of the parish are usually in third grade when they celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist for the first time. • The Catholic Community is free to celebrate the Eucharist (Communion) daily Monday thru Saturday at the 8 am Mass - During LENT - 7 p.m. Mass Monday thru Thursday Confirmation Baptized children of the parish are usually in the sixth or seventh grade when they celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. Preparation and plans for this Sacrament are made through the Parish school or the Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) in conjunction with the Bishop’s schedule of availability. Other Sacramental Information Any Adult or older child who would like to complete their Sacrament of Penance, Eucharist and Confirmation should call the Rectory and make an appointment to discuss the appropriate preparation and planning for these celebrations. Matrimony Couples wishing to celebrate the Sacrament of Matrimony (Marriage) should call the Rectory at least six months prior to a desired wedding date to set up a meeting with the Pastor or Deacon. The couple should not engage a caterer before this meeting. The marital meeting or Pre-Cana Session provides the couple with an opportunity to honestly discuss compatibility, family living, finances, Christian sexuality, their role in the Church and Society and a deeper understanding of the meaning of the Sacrament of Matrimony. Matrimony Schedule Weddings are usually celebrated on Saturday Afternoons. Another possible option is for the wedding to be celebrated on Friday evening. Baptized Catholics who are not married within the Sacrament of Matrimony and wish to have their marriage convalidatd (blessed) are encouraged to set up an appointment with the Pastor or the Deacon for preparation and planning. Sacrament of the Sick Members of the Community who are dealing with a serious illness or surgery may request that the Pastor (or any priest in residence at the parish) anoint them with the Holy Oils of the Sacrament. Anointing Schedule Annually, the Parish celebrates a Healing Mass and the Sacrament of the Sick is celebrated with anyone who registers in advance.
